Mnet’s in-house productions briefed us to an on-air identity and opening sequence for their local reality show called ‘I Wanna Be’. It’s a makeover show, which focuses on bringing people’s dreams to life for a day. So its not just about physical make over’s. It’s about creating a magical moment for someone. The show would have a very broad audience, so it needed to appeal to a fairly wide demographic, with a slant towards females between 18 and 40. Most of all it needed to feel inspirational, inclusive, and have a sense of fun and glamour.

Strategy, Concept & Execution:

Our biggest challenge when creating the opening sequence was that the show had not gone into production yet, so we were not able to use any of the footage of in the title sequence, so we needed to come up with a graphic treatment.

The on-air identity was designed around the concept of people being put in the spotlight. The logo acted as a metaphorical catalyst for people’s transformations, rotating around on a graphic stage to reveal different dreams. Each dream was designed as a kind of crest, built up of imagery, which was indicative of that particular dream, and getting its so-called 5 minutes of fame.
